لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ

Why this meaning was chosen

The verbal noun فَكّ names an agentive release from human bondage. Form VII مُنْفَكِّين presents the subject as becoming disengaged, with negation denying such separation before the clear evidence arrives. Causation and inchoative voice distinguish the constructions while release from attachment remains constant.
