Why this meaning was chosen
The two نَحْس expressions modify the days of ʿAd's destructive wind and are internally fixed by humiliation, punishment, and sustained calamity. The lone noun نُحَاس is instead a punitive emission coordinated with a flame of fire; the Quran supplies no bridge from that substance or phenomenon to adverse time, so it is isolated as a lexical collision.
