Where other meanings fail

harm

6:17

وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَ وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Alternative: if Allah brings good into harmful contact with you

Research rendering: if Allah causes good to affect you directly

Good and harm occupy parallel contactor slots, so adverse value comes from the subject, not the lexical core.

intimate contact

7:73

Alternative: do not have intimate contact with the she-camel with harm

Research rendering: do not make harmful contact with the she-camel

The external animal and harmful-manner phrase provide a concrete prohibition, with no marriage or conception frame.

touch

15:48

لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ

Alternative: no fatigue physically touches them there

Research rendering: no fatigue affects them there

Fatigue is a condition entering an experiencer's state, not a bodily contactor.

experience

20:97

Alternative: no experiencing

Research rendering: no contact

The negated event noun excludes an interpersonal relation, not merely a subjective state.

affect

56:79

لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ

Alternative: only the purified affect it

Research rendering: only the purified make contact with it

The protected text is the concrete target of direct contact rather than an experiencer whose condition changes.
