إِذَا رَأَتْهُم مِّن مَّكَانٍۭ بَعِيدٍ سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا تَغَيُّظًا وَزَفِيرًا
Why this meaning was chosen
The noun زَفِير characterizes the sound of the condemned within the Fire in two passages and the personified Fire itself in another. The contrast with شَهِيق at 11:106 supports an outbreath phase, while hearing language in 25:12 confirms its audible force. Participant transfer does not change the sound-event core.
