Why this meaning was chosen

Quran-internal review covered all four occurrences. The masculine collective noun appears among the vegetation of two contrasting garden scenes at 34:16 and 56:28. The feminine individual noun at 53:14 and 53:16 designates the same named tree at the utmost boundary and repeats it as the object of an enveloping event. Number and setting vary without changing the botanical referent.
