Quran-internal lexical rationale

One accompany relation across the family

This is one relational operation, not context changing the meaning. Morphology determines whether the occurrence names a companion, companions, a female companion, accompaniment, or being accompanied.

The invariant is accompany: one participant is in company with another participant, group, place, condition, or course. The verse identifies who or what the company involves; it does not replace the lexical relation with a new meaning.

Nominal morphology profiles participants in that relation. صَاحِب is companion, أَصْحَاب is companions, and صَاحِبَة is female companion. Where the feminine noun appears beside children, marriage is a constructional inference rather than part of the noun itself.

Verbal morphology profiles the relation as an event. Form III صَاحَبَ is accompany. Passive Form I يُصْحَبُونَ in 21:43 is are accompanied: the surrounding inability to defend makes protection a possible consequence, but protection is not inserted into صحب.

The earlier labels maintain close association, marital companion, continue in company, and receive accompanying protection each added something supplied by a particular construction. The accepted word layer now keeps only the accompany operation and its morphological forms.

6:71

Alternative: He has inhabitants calling him to guidance: Come to us.

Research rendering: He has companions calling him to guidance: Come to us.

The indefinite ashab are the bewildered person's associates who call him. Inhabitants supplies a place-residence relation absent from the verse; companions preserves the stated personal association.
