Where other meanings fail
distinct first-person lexeme
2:67
Alternative: I-seek-protection as a lexical identity unavailable to other persons or aspects
Research rendering: I seek protection with Allah from being among the ignorant
The same predicate appears in completed first-person Form I at 40:27 and third-person plural at 72:6; first person belongs to rendering, not lexical identity.
seek protection for oneself
3:36
Alternative: I seek protection for myself as Mary and her descendants
Research rendering: I place her and her descendants under Your protection
Form IV keeps the speaker as seeker but assigns Mary and her descendants as protected objects; person alignment cannot be built into the core.
fear
12:79
Alternative: fear of Allah that we take anyone except the one with whom our property was found
Research rendering: Allah's protection from taking anyone except the one with whom our property was found
The invocation establishes a protective barrier against an unjust act; it does not merely name an emotion.
receive effective divine rescue
72:6
Alternative: human men received effective divine rescue from men of the jinn
Research rendering: human men sought protection with men of the jinn
The verse reports a harmful increase, so the lexeme encodes recourse and protector selection, not successful shelter.
