39:45

وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ ٱشْمَأَزَّتْ قُلُوبُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَإِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

Why this meaning was chosen

The sole form VIII perfect has the hearts of afterlife-deniers as subject when God alone is mentioned. Their immediate rejoicing when others are mentioned supplies a direct affective contrast, fixing the first response as inward aversion.
