Why this meaning was chosen

Quran-internal review covered both occurrences of كَاهِن. In 52:29 the messenger is denied to be either a soothsayer or mad; in 69:42 the Quran is denied to be a soothsayer's speech, after also being denied as a poet's speech and before being affirmed as revelation from the Lord of the worlds. The passages clearly establish a human pronouncement-role falsely confused with revelation, but do not independently describe that role's practices or claimed knowledge. Soothsayer is therefore provisional pending user review. Both targets share the same indefinite genitive form; the aligned-reading field supplies no variant requiring a separate rule, no protected meaning was edited, and no exact lexical collision was found.
