Where other meanings fail

oppose

2:74

Alternative: stone opposes and water comes out

Research rendering: stone cracks open and water comes out

Water emergence requires a physical opening and supplies no adversarial participant.

crack open

4:115

وَمَن يُشَاقِقِ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ نُوَلِّهِۦ مَا تَوَلَّىٰ وَنُصْلِهِۦ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا

Alternative: whoever cracks open the messenger

Research rendering: whoever opposes the messenger

Form III and the alternative-path clause require adversarial side-taking, not physical fracture.

Alternative: the hereafter punishment is more arduous distance

Comparative morphology orders punishment by strain, while the travel-distance construction is absent.

يَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ ٱلْأَرْضُ عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعًا ذَٰلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٌ

Alternative: the earth hardships away from them

Research rendering: the earth cracks open away from them

People emerge through a physical division of earth; a bearer-experience noun cannot fill the inchoative verb.

burden

80:26

ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا

Alternative: We burdened the earth with a burdening

Research rendering: We split the earth with a splitting

The earth is a physically divided object and the cognate noun reinforces that division.
