وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِى فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَعْمَىٰ
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍۭ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا فَتِلْكَ مَسَٰكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَٰتٍ لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
Where other meanings fail

7:10
وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ
Alternative: We made for you daytime labor in the earth
Research rendering: We made for you means of livelihood in the earth
The plural object denotes multiple supports or avenues, whereas the temporal day frame belongs only to مَعَاش.
luxury
20:124
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِى فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَعْمَىٰ
Alternative: whoever turns from My remembrance will have luxury that is constricted
Research rendering: whoever turns from My remembrance will have a constricted living condition
Constricted quality contradicts luxury as an invariant and shows that evaluation comes from the modifier.
income
69:21
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
Alternative: he is in a satisfying income
Research rendering: he is in a satisfying life
The في construction locates the person within an experienced state, not within a monetary payment.
biological life
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
Alternative: We made the day biological life
Research rendering: We made the day a time for livelihood
Daytime is a temporal frame for sustaining activity and cannot itself bear biological aliveness.
