One operation across the family

This is not context changing the meaning. لقي retains one spatial-relational operation, encounter, with morphology determining how an occurrence is named.

The invariant is encounter: a participant or transferred theme enters operative contact or presence with a counterpart, recipient, destination, surface, condition, event, or direction. The surrounding verse identifies the participants and circumstances; it does not replace that relation with a fresh lexical meaning.

Morphology profiles different sides of that one operation. Form I and Form III name encounter directly. Form II presents a recipient with what enters encounter with them. Form IV casts a theme into encounter with a destination. Form V names the receptive side as receive. Form VIII names reciprocal encounter, while the participles name encountering, casting, or receiving participants.

The contrast between 27:6 and 2:37 makes the method visible. In 27:6, passive Form II تُلَقَّى presents the addressee as being presented with the Quran. In 2:37, active Form V تَلَقَّى presents Adam as receiving words. Similar surface letters do not authorize one undifferentiated English gloss; the recorded form and voice determine which side of encounter is profiled.

The noun تِلْقَاء names direction, the direction in which an encounter lies. Motion or a preposition can therefore produce movement toward that direction or origin from it without turning toward, facing, and accord into competing meanings of the noun itself.
