Why this meaning was chosen

Quran-internal review covered all twelve occurrences of the unrooted proper name. Ishmael is coordinated with Abraham in service at and construction of the House, named by Abraham as a son granted in old age, included among recipients of revelation and favored servants, and individually described as true to his promise, a messenger, a prophet, patient, and good. Case variation does not alter the single personal referent. The aligned-reading field supplies no variant requiring a separate rule; no protected meaning was edited and no exact lexical collision was found.
